About

A classic coastal cruiser updated to contemporary standards. The Pearson 303, a 30-foot recreational keelboat designed by Bill Shaw, is celebrated for its safe coastal cruising capabilities. Introduced by Pearson Yachts in 1983 and built until 1986, more than 300 units of this robust vessel were produced. Its solid fiberglass hull with a balsa core, coupled with wood trim and a skeg-mounted rudder, ensures durability and a seakindly motion. The Pearson 303 is noted for its dry ride and comfortable feel, offering substantial value for the money and meeting the diverse sailing needs of many yachtsmen. The boat’s design philosophy aligns with Pearson’s long-standing tradition of creating practical, no-nonsense cruising boats. The interior of the Pearson 303 is designed to maximize space and comfort, featuring a V-berth forward, a main saloon with port and starboard settees, and an L-shaped galley. It offers 6′ 3″ of headroom, making it a favorite among taller sailors. The cockpit, though small, can comfortably seat four adults, and the boat is equipped with a unique foredeck anchor locker that was innovative for its time. The Pearson 303 remains a sturdy, reliable option for coastal cruising. Its wide beam and generous freeboard contribute to a stiff, balanced sailing experience, particularly when off the wind, offering a pleasant and stable ride even in strong winds.

Layout

The Pearson 303 is the perfect classic coastal cruiser updated with many options.  This vessel is good either for day sailing and coastal cruising! It is very roomy for only being a 30-foot sailboat. Compared to most 30-foot sailboats the Pearson 303 sits higher off the water allowing it to have a deep and safe cockpit that can comfortably hold four adults.

Interior cushions have been reupholstered within the last few years.
