DESCRIPTION and FEATURES
Accommodations:
When you consider how few nights the average racer/cruiser spends offshore, it becomes apparent that there is a far more sensible interior arrangement plan available that results in greater crew comfort. That layout is exactly what sets the Cal 28 apart from all others in the 27-30′ range. By moving the head aft to amid-ship, the forward cabin is enlarged, and the traditional “tunnel” between head and lockers is eliminated. The Cal 28’s forward cabin is the owner’s stateroom and features a large V-berth (port side berth is a full 7’ and the starboard side berth is 6’3”) and a 3.5′ hanging locker. Moving aft through the main bulkhead with privacy door, you enter the main salon with L-shaped settees to port and a straight settee to starboard and a centerline drop leaf table. There is abundant storage above and outboard in lockers and shelves. Continuing aft to port is a well laid out galley including hot and cold pressure water, SS sink, icebox, and a two-burner propane stove with oven. Opposite to starboard is a large icebox which also serves as the nav station. Aft of the nav station is the fully enclosed ship’s head featuring a vanity, sink, storage lockers, shower, and marine toilet (new in 2007). Furthest aft to port is a large double berth with an opening port for ventilation. On the port bulkhead adjacent to the companionway is a Xantrex control panel for monitoring the batteries. Her bottom is painted with the new, environmentally-friendly Interlux – Pacifica paint (Blue).
