A Message from a Current ROCK Owner:
“The
search was for a boat that was neither too big nor too small, a boat on
which one can spend six to eight months a year. In other words, a home
on the sea, says Mark Meier Von Strenght, owner and captain of 26-metre
M/Y ROCK, hull number one. With a total of 16,000 nautical miles
traveled so far, that’s about 4,000 nautical miles per year, we have
experienced every kind of weather and have never felt unsafe, even in 70
knots of wind and four-meter high waves.”
MORE ROCK, LESS ROLL:
An
explorer yacht like no other, M/Y ROCK is the SUV of the seas. Inspired
by the durability of marble and Land Rover, yet softened by the warmth
of a tactile interior, 24m ROCK, designed by Dutch studio Vripack, is
built for comfortable adventure.
“ROCK,
an SUV of the seas, is the perfect example of how to take a
contemporary explorer yacht to the next level. Underpinned by Vripack’s
creative design skills and expertise in the fields of naval architecture
and engineering, the end result is a unique home at sea. Clever space
planning and an ergonomic layout creates optimum room on board, far
exceeding the interior volume of any other comparable sized yacht Paired
with CFD optimized hull shape- a defining feature of the SUV series-
ROCK epitomizes Vripack’s renowned skill for smart design, maximum
comfort, and pure onboard enjoyment in any sea condition.” – Bart M.
Bouwhuis, Partner, Vripack
STONE CALLED GENIUS:
“Her
mission is more about creeping into far-flung corners of Med with her
1.8 meter draft, or exploring off the beaten track in the Caribbean.
That’s why the SUV moniker sits so well. She is something of a hybrid. A
crossover. A new breed.” – Boat International
“We
added a lot of glass on board, with full height windows that deliver
uninterrupted views wherever you are on board. The dining area features
one of the largest glass panels found on board a 26m yacht, providing
panoramic vistas.” – Robin De Vries, Senior Designer, Vripack
The
Vripack design team took great care in developing a detailed exterior
and interior design to contain a large number of custom features that
match ROCK’s architectural lines. This is most apparent in the stainless
steel railing and bollards, the teak-deck layout, detailing on the
windows and inside the leather paneling and marble works that run
throughout. Evident from the moment you step on board, ROCK’s
exceptional design elements are what make a yacht of this size a
standout custom design. The special cabins at the aft gives the total
effect of the cruising experience with extra large windows making the
cabins luminous. Both cabins have their own bathrooms. The Owner Cabin
has luminous space and a private terrace which become stunning
especially at night with utilized underwater lighting enjoying an
aquarium feeling.
ROCK’s
outstanding 55m sq lounge deck comparable to a 40 meter’s, accommodates
a 12 person onyx dining table, an outdoor bar and a spacious lounge
sofa area.
ROCK
is an environmental yacht with onboard lithium-ion batteries, solar
panels, waste treatment system and very low fuel consumption at economic
speed.

Paint:
Prior
to cutting and assembling, all structural steel will be shot blasted to
SAE 2.5 standard. After assembling and welding, all exterior welds from
approx. 0.30m under the construction waterline upwards of the hull and
deck house are ground smooth to ambient plate surface.
Under the waterline, only excessive parts of welds are ground down in such a way that welding beads will have smooth appearance.
All
steel surfaces are freed from spot welds and welding spatters,
superficial damage to plate surfaces are welded up and ground smooth,
sharp plate edges are ground smooth (edge-braking).
Prior
to paint application, all steel work of the entire hull inside and
outside (with the exception of tanks and other fully enclosed parts)
will be swiped-blasted to clean the steelwork from burning and welding
residues, rust and other fouling and moreover to obtain a proper paint
anchoring surface.
Steel piping in general will be painted with the same system as the ambient steel structure.
ROCK will be painted with AkzoNobel – International products referring to ICOMIA Superyacht Paint standards.
