NURJA

NURJA is one of very few SWATH (Small Waterplane Area Twin Hull) superyachts in existence. The SWATH design provides exceptional stability and seakeeping compared to conventional monohull or catamaran yachts of equivalent size.

Twin Strut Configuration:
The twin-strut arrangement reduces noise created by wave action between the hulls by giving disturbed water an escape path — a significant advantage over conventional catamaran forms.

Stability:
There is no real limit to wave height for operability — wave height and period between peaks are factors for comfort, not safety. Unlike catamarans, a SWATH vessel does not suffer the “hull spreading” effect in heavy seas due to the displacement aspect of the hulls. Damage stability rated to two flooded compartments — vessel remains afloat and stable even with water at main deck level.

Roll/Pitch Control:
Marine Dynamics Inc. active control system integrated with the Böning AMCS (see Ship Automation section). Achieves comparable results for roll as for pitch trimming. System recommissioned during refit. Four fin stabilizers provide active stabilization at anchor and underway.

Pressure Sensor System:
Monitors hull pressure differential — critical for SWATH trim capability. Integrated into the Böning distributed processing network.

Trim Tab System:
Trim tabs on rudders increase rudder efficiency and reduce turbulence effects — a SWATH-specific feature.

Noise & Vibration:
No unnatural noise underway — the SWATH platform delivers the quiet, stable ride the design promises.

SHIP AUTOMATION & INTEGRATED BRIDGE

NURJA’s ship management platform is a Böning AMCS (Alarm Management & Control System) — a fully integrated automation system that unifies bridge displays, engine monitoring,  navigation lighting, fire alarm, CCTV, and vessel systems monitoring into a single DNV-certified network. FAT tested December 2022 by DNV.

Bridge Workstations:
Multiple AHD 1200 PC wheelhouse display systems (software v1.5.164) serve as the primary bridge interface — combining alarm management, vessel status, and navigation system monitoring into integrated workstation displays. These function as the vessel’s central multi-function displays.

Vessel Monitoring:
7 distributed processing units (AHD-DPU 9, IDs 10-70) across the vessel, monitoring power management, engine data, fuel oil, fresh water, and bilge valve systems. All feeding into the bridge workstation displays.

Network Architecture:
Dual CAN-bus backbone (CANLine 3, CANLine 4) with automatic failover for redundancy. Modbus RS485/422 interface for legacy system integration. The dual-bus architecture ensures no single point of failure in the ship management network.

Navigation Light Control:
Böning AHD-DPS02 navigation light system — 14-light basic module expandable to 42 lights, with CAN-bus integration and automatic service monitoring that records operating hours and switching cycles for each light.

Fire Detection & Alarm:
Fire alarm loop integrated into AMCS via Modbus protocol with automatic detection via the CAN-bus network.

CCTV Integration:
Böning AHD-VDCU video control system (16/16 version, up to 16 cameras) integrated with bridge workstation displays via AHD-VCP control panel. Camera network includes PTZ cameras, fixed dome cameras, vari-focal dome cameras, an underwater thru-hull camera (IP68), and an industrial-grade heated-lens camera. Optional FLIR thermal imaging capability.

Switching & Power:
AHD-SAS 15 switching systems, AHD-PS 30 and AHD-PS 47 power supply units, AHD-R 101-2 resolver systems.

Directional control valves replaced. Additional outboard valves installed.

NURJA’s aft deck opens onto a foldable sea terrace and swimming platform — 3.2 metres in length, finished in synthetic teak teak. A carbon fibre swim ladder by Swiss Carbon provides direct ocean access. The self-levelling passarelle features hydraulic 180-degree rotation and wireless remote operation for tender boarding and shore access, complemented by a full-replacement side boarding ladder to port.

On the bridge deck aft, a new tender crane with 2,500 kg safe working load handles the Buster Magnum Cabin and RIB Wahoo SP190. The heli deck forward on the upper deck is finished in synthetic teak with an integrated awning system and full CCTV coverage. Two Harken 4000 CLR TopCustom electric mooring winches, a dual-motor anchor windlass system, and additional cleats and bollards complete the deck equipment. All original teak decking has been replaced with synthetic teak (Bolidt/Flexiteek) throughout.

The full-beam Master Suite occupies the Upper Deck with a king bed (210 cm x 200 cm) and is reached by the DNV-certified elevator. A raised platform bed commands 180-degree panoramic views, while a private balcony opens directly from the suite. His and Her bathrooms each feature dedicated showers with heated floors, and the His bathroom includes a bathtub. A separate owner’s office adjoins the suite, and a private gym is accessible directly through Her bathroom — offering dedicated privacy on the owner’s deck.

Four guest cabins are situated on the Main Deck, each with ensuite bathroom featuring WC and bidet. The two aft cabins (port and starboard) each have king beds (210 cm x 200 cm). The two forward cabins (port and starboard) are configured as twins (196 cm x 140 cm & 196 cm x 104 cm). One cabin includes a pullman berth for flexible sleeping arrangements, accommodating up to 12 guests across all staterooms. A guest day head is also provided on the Main Deck.

The gym on the Upper Deck is adjacent to the Master Suite, equipped with a water rowing machine, yoga mats, kettle bells, dumbbells, exercise stepper, fitness ball, medicine ball, and skipping ropes. A DNV-certified elevator connects all decks (5-year survey completed October 2024).
