About

Swallow, a 19' fiberglass Friendship Sloop, was built by New England Yachts in Boston, MA in 1975. She has a wooden deck assembly with the cabin top and decks fiberglassed with hull and woodwork newly painted. Her enlarged cockpit is terrific for 4-6 passengers, and she would be a good layout for daysails with her small cabin for gear.

Overview

Swallow is one of six 19-footers built of the Ahern design by New England Yachts in Boston.  A well-built solid fiberglass hull with inside lead ballast. The deck assembly is wood that has been upgraded the winter of 2022-23 with enlarging the cockpit, refinishing the woodwork, and repainting the hull.  Tiller steering, large rudder.  A new bilge pump and hose is currently being installed.

The cockpit seats 4-6 people.

The spars are painted fir and consist of the bowsprit, mast, boom, and gaff.  There is a main sail, and she needs a jib. Standing rigging is stainless steel shrouds with traditional blocks and deadeyes.  Running rigging is traditional 3-strand Dacron.

There is a stainless steel outboard motor mount for the transom.

This sloop is a small Friendship Sloop that sails with the stability these former work boats boast. She is a Maine classic ready to sail!
